AEC Armoured Car Mark III

The AEC was a British Armored Car from WWII. A very large armored car it had the same 75mm Cannon as the Churchill or Cromwell Tanks. The Mark III version came out in 1944 and it weighed 15 tons. This build was made almost completely from 1/8" Styrene. The Closest wheels I could find in scale were purchased from a replacement part site for BBQ grills and then I found they were hollow on the back so I doctored them up the best I could do. This was also my first build where I made the whole engine compartment. With large hatches on the back and open On the bottom I thought I would give it a try. I was going to make the engine removable but with the PTO attached it ended up being a permanent installation. All the periscopes rotate and the side hatch comes off. The driver even has a raise able windscreen. Hope you enjoy. It was a fun build!

Some pictures of the finished model. The 1/35 reference model was from Mini-Art and arrived with one of the sprues missing and a replacement from a mark I or II version so I originally built the model and had to tear off the rear part to make it correct. The rear fenders I know are attached wrong and some parts like the upper intake are sized a bit off. I also messed up on the markings as I painted them on the wrong fenders. It's still a pretty cool model.
