GULF OF ADEN (Sept. 9, 2010) U.S. Marine Corps snipers provide cover and observation Thursday, Sept. 9 during a boarding and sezure operation to retake the motor vehicle Magellan Star from suspected pirates. Nine pirates were taken into custody and transferred to the guided-missile cruiser USS Princeton (CG 59). The eleven crew members aboard Magellan Star resumed control of their vessel. Dubuque is part of the Peleliu Amphibious Ready Group, supporting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
