Before starting a Visit, Boarding, Search and Seizure exercise, Lance Cpl. James A. Scarborough, a Marine attached to the Ground Combat Element, Black Sea Rotational Force-11, and Montevallo, Ala., native, along with other Marines of BSRF-11 work with Coastguardsmen, U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Sea Otter, San Diego, Calif., to prepare for the training. The VBSS training will aid the Marines in their deployment to the Black Sea, Balkan and Caucasus regions to help advise and build the military capacities of foreign host nations in over twelve Eastern European countries.
During a Visit, Boarding, Search and Seizure exercise, Lance Cpl. Scott D. Tynan, of Albuquerque, N.M., and Marine riflemen attached to the Ground Combat Element, Black Sea Rotational Force-11, looks through the porthole of a U.S. Coast Guard patrol boat, while receiving support from U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Sea Otter, San Diego, Calif.
Marines, attached to Black Sea Rotational Force-11, and Coast Guardsmen attached to U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Sea Otter, San Diego, Calif., hook a ladder to board the patrol boat, as part of their Visit, Boarding, Search and Seizure training.
